About the Role: The estimator provides proactive estimating on a single or multiple projects, which includes providing quantity takeoffs, assisting in pricing, and ensuring the project is contracted and started accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare conceptual through final estimates with accuracy and completeness across all project phases.
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs, analyze costs, and collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to validate pricing and scope.
- Review plans and specifications, request clarifications, and present estimates and bid packages in a clear, organized format.
- Incorporate all relevant costs—taxes, insurance, bonds, permits, wage rates, productivity, and fees—to ensure comprehensive pricing.
- Support project startup and planning by helping establish schedules, budgets, and general conditions for team review.
- Maintain and organize project documentation, historical cost data, and estimate recaps while assisting with cost tracking and reporting.
- Prepare and manage subcontracts, purchase orders, and change order proposals in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Build strong relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism throughout all estimating activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; prior estimating or construction experience required.
- Strong understanding of specs, drawings, and cost principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Procore (or similar).
- Organized, detail-oriented, and team-focused.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment screening.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse a variety of construction jobsites in various weather conditions.
