What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Custodian position at First Congregational Church of Akron?
Mission: Responsible for assisting with the hospitality and cleaning of the facility providing a safe and welcoming environment for members, guests, and staff.
Reports to: Head Custodian
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist with cleaning and stocking restrooms, general sweeping, cleaning, mopping, sanitizing, and vacuuming of the facility, and taking out the trash to ensure that the building and grounds are clean and presentable.
· Responsible for preparing the building for worship or events by opening the building, and insuring clean and safe entrances by picking up litter, putting out signs, and shoveling sidewalks and steps in winter, and making sure that lights are out and the building is secured and locked at the close of the event.
· Assist with front of house welcome, making coffee, and guest services for events. After events ensure that all rooms used are inspected, adequately cleared and cleaned.
· Assist with set-up and take down of equipment for worship services, meetings, dinners, and special events, including but not limited to, tables, chairs, AV equipment, risers, lecterns, and decorations.
· Assist with facility maintenance as needed with building and cleaning projects, as assigned by Head Custodian.
Qualifications and Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED
· Attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
· Positive interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize
· Able to work effectively with diverse cultures and ethnicities, all levels of socioeconomic status, gender identities, and sexual orientation.
· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
· AkronFCC is a drug-free workplace, and applicants must pass a drug test prior to employment.
Required Hours:
· Thursday, Friday, Saturday as scheduled to cover events
· Sunday 8am-2pm
Additional Hours Available:
· Various events requiring staff may occur throughout the year including but not limited to weddings, funerals, memorial services, and concerts
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
