Qualifications:

Job Title: Plumber                       

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Foreman

 

General Summary:

Assist with Inspecting, diagnosing and remedy all maintenance related issues at all Tentac Enterprises; properties and any commercial properties. Execute all general commercial maintenance procedures while maintaining an emphasis on quality and preventative maintenance.  Repair and maintain commercial properties in accordance with company standards for quality, cleanliness, customer satisfaction, safety and security.  Perform HVAC and electrical installation and repair.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Adhere to company’s preventative maintenance program
  • Install, maintain and repair areas, such as but not limited to, machinery, equipment, physical structures, carpentry, drywall, plumbing and electrical systems in commercial property buildings
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs of HVAC and other facility equipment, ensuring that all company procedures have been adhered to
  • Plan for assigned work orders including materials, parts, training and other requirements to ensure that facility related projects and installations are executed in an efficient manner
  • Perform general facilities work related to construction, repair, finishing and installation of facility related equipment using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment
  • Installs pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids
  • Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
  • Assembles fittings and valves for installation
  • Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building
  • Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary
  • Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters

 

 

Supporting Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.

 

· Assist with special projects and renovations when needed

· Resolve minor maintenance issues quickly and effectively

· Other duties as assigned by management

 

 

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, plumbing diagrams and working knowledge of electrical wiring, motors, HVAC units and refrigerant systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical wiring, relays and electronic controls
  • Working knowledge of motors, switches, and other electrical components
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, painting, HVAC, electrical and general maintenance procedures

 

 

Qualification Standards

Communication:

  • Strong communication skills are needed. 
  • Ability to convey information and ideas. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with vastly diverse groups of people

 

Experience:

Preferred: Vocational or College degree in field

Required: 3 years of experience or Plumber's License issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health. (IDPH)

 

Licenses or Certificates:

Required: Valid Driver’s License 

Preferred: EPA and HVAC Certification

 

Grooming:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance including hair color.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to reach by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Ability to frequently walk and climb/descend stairs approximately 50% of the time.
  • Ability to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, the use of small repair tools
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and a maximum of 140 pounds with assistance 
  • Ability to periodically bend, kneel, crawl, and twist torso as needed to accomplish required tasks
  • Ability to perform duties with extreme temperature and noise ranges
  • Ability to see within normal parameters
  • Ability to hear within a normal range
  • Ability to move about
  • Must have the physical ability to maintain balance, climb safely, and carry tools or materials while ensuring three points of contact at all times while using a ladder.
