First Community Bank of Central Alabama is a commercial bank that has been open since August 2001. We currently have offices in Wetumpka, Millbrook, Eclectic, Prattville, Tallassee, South Tallassee, West Prattville, Pine Level and Holtville. We also operate a Wealth Management Division and a full-service mortgage company, First Community Mortgage.

About the Role:

The Loan Operations (Loan Ops) professional plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth processing and management of loan applications from initiation through to closing and post-closing activities. This position is responsible for maintaining accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in loan documentation and data management, directly impacting customer satisfaction and regulatory adherence. The role requires close collaboration with loan officers, underwriters, and other internal teams to resolve discrepancies and facilitate timely loan disbursements. Additionally, the Loan Ops specialist monitors loan pipelines, tracks deadlines, and supports audit and quality control processes to mitigate risk. Ultimately, this role ensures that all loan transactions are executed flawlessly, supporting the financial institution’s operational goals and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in loan operations, mortgage processing, or a related financial services role.
  • Strong knowledge of loan documentation, underwriting processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with loan origination systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with mortgage loan products including conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations such as RESPA, TILA, and HMDA.
  • Certification in loan processing or underwriting (e.g., NMLS licensing or equivalent).
  • Experience with loan servicing platforms and customer relationship management (FLOW) software.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with loan officers, underwriters, and closing agents to facilitate timely loan processing and closing activities.
  • Maintain and update loan tracking systems to ensure accurate status reporting and pipeline management.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues in loan files, escalating complex problems to management as needed.
  • Support audit and quality control processes by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external parties to ensure smooth loan operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

In this role, strong organizational and communication skills are essential for coordinating between multiple stakeholders and ensuring loan files are complete and accurate. Attention to detail is critical when reviewing documentation to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. Proficiency with loan origination systems and Microsoft Excel enables efficient tracking and reporting of loan statuses and pipeline management. Analytical skills help identify discrepancies and process inefficiencies, allowing the Loan Ops professional to recommend and implement improvements. Additionally, knowledge of relevant regulations and loan products supports effective problem-solving and risk mitigation in daily operations.
