About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead contract service operations in Austin, TX. This role ensures safety, efficiency, and customer service while managing the day-to-day transit operations. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a proactive approach to problem-solving, team management, and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily bus service operations, ensuring compliance with schedules, routes, and policies.
- Coordinate with dispatchers, drivers, and maintenance teams for smooth service delivery.
- Provide leadership and support to drivers, resolving operational concerns.
- Monitor driver performance for safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service standards.
- Manage driver scheduling to maintain proper staffing and regulatory compliance.
- Analyze service performance and collaborate with leadership on improvements.
- Present route performance reports to clients and recommend enhancements.
- Participate in company leadership meetings, client meetings, and quarterly business reviews.
- Ensure full route coverage by securing driver support from other locations when needed.
- Oversee passenger reporting, incident response, and compliance efforts to maintain service and safety standards.
- Investigate and resolve client concerns, SLA issues, and driver performance matters.
- Implement staff performance metrics, coaching, and evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records and reports while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policies.
- Work with the Safety Manager to develop and implement safety programs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in transportation operations, logistics, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and transportation regulations.
- Proficiency in dispatch systems and operational software.

Education / Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing staff of ten or more.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience dispatching in transportation industry.
- Two (2) or more years of recent (within the last 5 years) and relevant direct experience managing the operations of regularly scheduled fixed route public transit service similar in scope, size, and complexity of the work.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business, or related field
- Experience supervising staff in multi-shift, multi-site environment.
