What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician position at First City Recovery Center?
The Behavioral Health Technician acts as a representative of treatment team staff and observes all patient activity including maintaining a visible presence within the resident population, and reporting observations to clinical and medical staff. The Behavioral Health Technician will also assist nursing staff in performing routine procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Aids in new resident intake in accordance with policies and procedures.
● Ensures timeliness of residents to and from groups, individual therapy, and meetings in accordance with daily schedule.
● Supports staff with the enforcement of and accountability for rules and guidelines as outlined in resident handbooks.
● Assists staff and residents in the administration and performance of waived urine analysis and breathalyzer testing in accordance with policies and procedures.
● Assists staff in checking resident vitals in accordance with policies and procedures.
● Communicates concerning client behavior to appropriate staff in a manner which staff fully understands.
● Assists in crisis intervention as appropriate in accordance with policy and procedures.
● Responsible for knowing and facilitating emergency safety procedures in accordance with First City Recovery Center’s policies and procedures.
● Assists with inventory, general maintenance of supplies and equipment to maintain a clean and safe environment for residents which includes but is not limited to bed checks, room sweeps, and ensuring readiness of units/rooms in accordance with First City Recovery Center policy and procedures.
● Assists in making daily visual inspections of property for documenting quality improvement needs, guest or safety concerns, and supplies needed.
● Participates and completes all required training in accordance with First City Recovery Center policy and procedures
● Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
● Oral and written communication skills preferred
● Ability to handle stress and crisis, and interact with clients of varied temperaments with a professional demeanor preferred
● Knowledge of mental health issues and chemical dependency preferred
● Computer skills with basic software systems preferred
● Organizational and time management skills preferred
● Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work including weekends preferred.
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
