We’re looking for a Facilities Director to oversee the care, maintenance, and operation of all campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and mechanical systems at First Christian Church. This role ensures that the facilities are safe, clean, attractive, and fully functional to support all ministry programs and community activities. The Facilities Director leads the facilities team, oversees vendor relationships, and works cross-functionally with all ministry departments to provide an environment that reflects excellence and stewardship.

Role Summary

The Facilities Director oversees the care, maintenance, and operation of all campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and mechanical systems at First Christian Church. This role ensures that the facilities are safe, clean, attractive, and fully functional to support all ministry programs and community activities. The Facilities Director leads the facilities team, oversees vendor relationships, and works cross-functionally with all ministry departments to provide an environment that reflects excellence and stewardship.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Facilities Team to ensure all maintenance, custodial, and setup tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Provide direction for project planning, work scheduling, and daily task management.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and 1:1 check-ins for accountability, development, and performance feedback.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee staff and volunteers serving in facilities, maintenance, or safety and security roles.

2. Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee all campus facilities, ensuring they are clean, well-maintained, and operational for weekend services, programs, events, and rentals.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, custodial, and security systems.
  • Maintain an organized preventive maintenance program and respond promptly to emergency repairs.
  • Supervise and evaluate housekeeping or janitorial services, ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
  • Manage lawn equipment and other assets to ensure proper maintenance, usage, and replacement schedules.

3. Planning & Stewardship

  • Manage the annual facilities budget, including utilities, repairs, supplies, capital expenditures, and improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of facility assets, warranties, inspections, and vendor contracts.
  • Develop long-range maintenance and capital improvement plans to ensure sustainable stewardship of the campus.
  • Create and manage work order systems, preventive maintenance schedules, and facility inspection routines.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations to assess future facility needs and major projects.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure the church remains compliant with all applicable codes, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary contact for local and state code authorities, inspectors, and emergency personnel.
  • Manage the operation of fire, alarm, and security systems, responding to issues as needed.
  • Lead and equip volunteer teams in the areas of safety and security.
  • Implement and monitor risk management and environmental safety procedures for all church properties.

5. Event & Space Coordination

  • Oversee the church calendar for facility use, scheduling setups, tear-downs, and special events in collaboration with ministry leaders.
  • Ensure facility layouts, furnishings, and equipment are prepared for all services, meetings, funerals, and community events.
  • Support “All Hands On Deck” and large-scale ministry events as needed, coordinating staffing and logistics.

6. Administration & Vendor Management

  • Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with vendors and service providers for maintenance, landscaping, and repairs.
  • Maintain records of building schematics, keys, badges, access codes, and HVAC zones.
  • Implement systems for cost reduction, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.
  • Approve purchases and expenditures according to FCC policy and established budget thresholds.

Qualifications

  • A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ and full alignment with FCC’s mission and values.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in facilities, maintenance, or construction management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building/facility operations or a related field.
  • Proven knowledge of commercial maintenance systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, custodial, and safety.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, ADA, and fire code compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to recruit, develop, and lead a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace; experience with digital scheduling and maintenance tracking systems preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks related to building maintenance.
  • Must become an active member of First Christian Church within 90 days of employment.

Schedule and Expectations

  • Daily time seeking Jesus through prayer and time in the Word
  • Typical work schedule: Sunday–Thursday, with flexibility for evening, holiday, or weekend responsibilities as ministry needs require.
  • Expected weekly hours: 40 .
  • Participate in all required team and staff meetings, including staff devotions and development sessions.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, reliability, and ministry partnership in all interactions.
  • Participate in “All Hands On Deck” and special event setups.
  • Serve as primary on-call contact for building emergencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
