Position Summary
The Music Teacher creates a joyful, Christ-centered learning environment where children develop a love for God, music, and learning. This position provides engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction for children ages 8 weeks through PREP (Pre-K), incorporating singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, worship, and creative expression while supporting FCCP's mission of Jesus First. Academically Strong.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and teach weekly music classes for infants, toddlers, preschool, and PREP students.
- Lead children in age-appropriate Christian songs, worship, movement, finger plays, and rhythm activities.
- Introduce foundational music concepts such as beat, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, and instrument exploration.
- Encourage participation while fostering confidence, creativity, and a love for music.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce monthly curriculum themes and Bible lessons.
- Prepare children for Christmas, Easter, Graduation, and other special performances.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging music environment.
- Model positive behavior using FCCP's philosophy of encouragement, respect, and relationship-based guidance.
- Communicate professionally with staff, families, and administration.
- Attend staff meetings and required trainings as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; coursework or degree in Music, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with young children preferred.
- Strong singing ability with confidence leading groups of children.
- Basic piano, guitar, or ukulele skills preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain.
- Must pass all required state background checks.
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Ability to engage children through music, movement, storytelling, and interactive activities.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Dependable, energetic, patient, and creative.

Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 30 pounds.
- Sit on the floor, kneel, bend, and actively participate in music and movement activities.
- Supervise children while maintaining a safe learning environment.
