Part-Time Lighting Sales Associate
First Choice Electric Supply- Newark, NY
Responsibilities
- Assist showroom customers in lighting selections and purchases in a manner which maintains long term relationships
- Develop a working knowledge (training provided) of all types of lighting, ceiling fans, home furnishings, etc. & use that knowledge to help inform customers & help them make educated purchases
- Assist as a design partner and provide consulting services to help customers envision how new lighting can enhance their décor style
- Become proficient in POS system where you will document sales & collect payment
- Be able to balance assisting multiple customers at the same time when needed
- Continuous training in new products & general industry knowledge
- Maintain a clean, attractive, & organized showroom appearance both inside and outside the showroom with cleaning tasks
- Be able to independently open and close the showroom
- Generate quotes for current and prospective clients
- Basic filing of customer orders and invoices
- Unboxing inventory as it comes in to check for damage and putting on appropriate order/stock shelf or calling customers to let them know order is in
- Managing warehouse inventory & stock organization
- Assist in inventory management tasks including purchase orders
- Be able to perform a variety of tasks during down time in the showroom such as…
- Cold calling clients for both showroom & parts counter (builders, designers, architects, contractors, industrials etc.)
- Following up on leads in the showroom that did not purchase & continuing to add to their wish list
- Print out backorder report from ERP & call vendors for updates, shipping status, tracking numbers & then call customers with updates
- Create merchandising ideas on décor & other staging ideas to decorate the showroom
- Assemble fixtures for display and move items around for a fresh atmosphere (can be taught)
- Update price changes in the system as they come in and regularly check showroom tag pricing against pricing in Lights America system to ensure they match
- Write “Thank You” cards to customers
- Go through recently sold homes & send postcards to them for advertising
- Creating new tags for new display products
- Regular maintenance and updating system info (i.e. vendor information) in ERP
- Updating sandwich board sign on a regular basis
Qualifications
- Ability to work most weekdays and rotating Saturdays
- Polite, courteous, and outgoing personality
- Quick & willing to learn new skills & tasks
- Confident sales skills
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Detail oriented
- High school degree preferred
