Surgical Assistant at Surgical Dermatology Practice

The Surgical Assistant will provide full procedural support and follow-up care in a surgical dermatology practice, assisting the dermatologic surgeon with Mohs and excisional surgeries. Reporting to the physicians and practice manager, this role will help prepare patients and instruments, support procedures, provide wound care and postoperative instructions, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate effectively with patients and the care team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, rooms, and instruments for Mohs and excisional surgeries.
• Assist the dermatologic surgeon throughout surgical procedures.
• Handle and maintain surgical instruments according to practice protocols.
• Provide wound care and support postoperative follow-up.
• Deliver clear postoperative instructions to patients.
• Document procedures and patient care accurately in electronic health records.
• Communicate with patients regarding procedures, care instructions, and follow-up.

Required Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certificate or diploma.
• Experience with electronic health records.
• Strong patient communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in a clinical role.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) qualification.
• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification.
