What are the responsibilities and job description for the Indirect Tax Analyst position at First Brands Group, LLC?
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Indirect Tax Analyst to join our growing team. In this role, you will support a variety of tax compliance activities across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process monthly sales and use tax returns, including Canadian GST/HST filings and related payments.
- Assist in compiling state apportionment workpapers and ensure accuracy in data reporting.
- Support a wide range of tax compliance matters, including:
- Sales/use tax
- Franchise/gross receipts tax
- Business personal property tax
- Informational tax reporting
- Maintain and actively manage the Tax Calendar to track filing obligations and critical due dates.
- Collaborate with external advisors to support all aspects of the tax compliance process.
- Respond to notices and audit inquiries from tax authorities and support indirect tax controversy matters.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a point of contact for internal teams on tax-related issues and assist in resolving queries.
- Support local teams during audits or inquiries from tax authorities.
- Contribute to various ad-hoc tax projects as needed.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2 years of experience in a corporate tax department or tax consultancy environment
- Solid understanding of indirect tax principles, including U.S. sales/use tax and Canadian GST/HST
- Experience managing tax compliance for multiple legal entities
- Strong knowledge of tax concepts with practical, hands-on experience
- CPA designation is a plus
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Highly organized, with strong project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
