Position Overview
First Baptist Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled Music Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to appreciate and pursue musical excellence while integrating music instruction with a classical Christian worldview. This position may include teaching music education classes, directing choir or vocal ensembles, and leading school musical theater productions.
Responsibilities
- Teach music courses such as general music, choir, music appreciation, or music theory.
- Integrate biblical truth and a classical approach to learning into music instruction.
- Direct and prepare students for concerts, recitals, and school performances.
- Lead and coordinate musical theater productions and performances.
- Encourage musical growth, discipline, and creativity among students.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support the mission of the school.
- Maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment that promotes excellence and respect.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
- Experience teaching K-12th-grade school students.
- Ability to direct vocal and/or instrumental ensembles.
- Experience with or interest in musical theater direction.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to the mission and philosophy of classical Christian education.
- ACSI Certified or willing to achieve ACSI certification
Preferred Skills
- Piano accompaniment ability.
- Experience directing school musicals or stage productions.
- Familiarity with classical education models (such as the Trivium).
- Ability to teach music theory and develop student musicianship.

- A personal and active commitment to Jesus Christ.
- Agreement with the school’s statement of faith and educational philosophy.
- A desire to mentor students academically and spiritually.
