Job Summary
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Children’s Ministry Director is responsible to the church and the Pastor for assisting church ministry organizations to develop a comprehensive educational ministry for Children four-year-old through sixth Grade. The prayer of our church is for this to be a dynamic ministry to children and their families, promoting spiritual growth in children to study and learn God’s Word in a warm, fun, and loving environment.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Set a positive Christian example and serve as a role model in personal life by being faithfully committed to Christ. Attend Sunday and Wednesday evening services and other functions of the church.
2. Adhere fully to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 in support of the doctrinal statement and vision of the First Baptist Church of Saks.
3. Attend Staff Meetings as requested.
4. Submit upcoming Children’s Ministry plans and events to the church office by the 20th of each month for the upcoming newsletter.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
1. Plan, schedule, and conduct the Children’s programs on Wednesday Nights from 6:00 – 7:00 PM. This includes recruiting volunteers, advertising, sign-ups, and ordering materials, etc. Prepare and distribute teaching materials to weekly teacher volunteers for Sunday Kidstyle Worship and Wednesday Night programs, ensuring that Biblical truth, application, and Spiritual disciplines are included in all material.
2. Coordinate and provide general assistance for the Worship Kidstyle program during Sunday worship for first through sixth grades and an appropriate age class for four- and five-year-olds. Give general assistance in the Children’s Sunday School Department by working with elected Sunday School volunteers. Arrive 25-30 minutes before each session. Oversee the Children’s Ministry Check-in Station. This includes stocking supplies and organizing volunteers to staff the Check-in Station.
3. Organize and promote Vacation Bible School and special community wide events for Children. Organize other special activities such as day trips, camps, and retreats as appropriate and desired by Church Family.
4. Keep parents informed of events through print, phone, Facebook, Church Newsletter, etc. Distribute flyers and advertisements as allowed throughout the community. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with the local elementary school.
5. Implement and review security policies regarding safety and efficiency including proper background checks for Children’s workers. Work under the guidance of the “ARK Kids Children’s Ministries Policies and Procedures.” Always provide at least two workers with children.
6. Prepare, recommend, and oversee the annual budget for the needs of the Children’s Ministry.
7. Maintain open communication and a good working relationship with all Children’s Ministry volunteers.
8. Participate in outreach activities with prospective participants and/or parents of children involved in the program. Make visits to parents of children who are new to the program via VBS or who make decisions during VBS.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
*Ability to relate and work with others in a Church setting.
*Evidence of past experiences in working with children in a church or secular setting.
*Ability to climb stairs.
*Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
*Candidate must pass an extensive background check.
*Demonstrate a heart for serving children in past and present experiences.
*Ability to work with special needs children. Evidence of past experiences is helpful.
