About the Position
First Baptist Norman is seeking a dependable, skilled, and service-oriented Part-Time Maintenance Technician to help care for our large church campus and facilities.
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for keeping our buildings, grounds, equipment, and common areas safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained. This is a hands-on position that requires someone who takes pride in their work, can identify problems before they become major issues, and is comfortable handling a variety of maintenance tasks.
The ideal candidate is someone who is reliable, organized, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently while also working well with church staff, ministry leaders, vendors, and volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the church campus
- Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues. Identify issues that need to be addressed by licensed electricians, plumers, etc.
- Replace light bulbs, HVAC filters, and other routine maintenance services.
- Perform minor drywall, painting, flooring, and carpentry repairs
- Inspect buildings, restrooms, classrooms, offices, kitchens, and common areas for maintenance needs
- Maintain doors, locks, hinges, hardware, furniture, and other building fixtures
- Assist with setup, breakdown, and room preparation for church services, events, weddings, meetings, and other activities
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
- Keep maintenance areas organized and ensure supplies are properly stored
- Identify safety hazards and report larger repair needs or concerns to church leadership
- Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers when specialized work is required
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Respond to occasional urgent maintenance needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, handyman work, or a related field preferred
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
