JOB DESCRIPTION: PART-TIME
MUSIC/WORSHIP LEADER
Principal Role:
The role of the Music/Worship Leader is to oversee the music ministry team of the Church by developing, coordinating, and administering Spirit-led worship while providing leadership and supervision of the music programs and the technical staff and equipment.
Job Description:
This year-round position is defined as salary, part-time, average of hours per week with two weeks of paid vacation. Expectation of attendance is for Sunday and Wednesday evening worship services, rehearsals with the Worship Choir and other special services including (but not limited to) Revivals, Christmas, and Easter. The work is done cooperatively with the Pastor and Music Committee. As part of the Leadership of the Church, the Music/Worship Leader is expected to advocate for the music program.
Ministerial Responsibilities:
● Model and lead heartfelt worship in an invitational style – drawing people in, encouraging participation, and pointing to Jesus.
● Shepherd and maintain accountability with the Choir, vocalists, and accompanists.
● Guide and instruct congregation in true biblical worship.
● Prepare article for the publication of the Spire (newsletter).
Key Responsibilities:
● Work weekly with the Pastor to plan, prepare, and provide direction for a blended (traditional/contemporary) worship service.
● Oversee the Choir through recruitment, rehearsals, and musical training.
● Lead and direct worship at weekly-scheduled and special services.
● Lead and direct music for the annual Vacation Bible School.
● Enlist and use the talents within the church congregation.
● Oversee and provide direction for the vocalists, music ministry team, and technical staff (including) audio, visual, lighting, and other worship-related technical equipment.
● Serve and attend meetings as a member of the Church Council and Music Committee as written in By-Laws.
● Coordinate with the Children and Youth Ministries, as needed, related to any musical needs.

Office Responsibilities:
● Select and purchase all needed music, equipment, and instruments, as well as all-related resources in music and worship. Purchases will be withdrawn from the yearly Music Budget with any overage to come before the Church in a Business Meeting for approval.
● Oversee maintenance of the music library, materials and supplies, musical instruments, and equipment involved in the music ministry.
● Maintain copyright records and adhere to lawful guidelines applicable to the use of copyrighted material.
Accountability:
The Music/Worship Leader is accountable to the Pastor and the Church congregation. This individual will notify the Pastor and Personnel Committee a minimum of fourteen (14) calendar days prior to planned absences/vacation (preferable as soon as known) and be responsible for the scheduling of a substitute for leading worship. This excludes personal and family emergencies.
Position Requirements:
● Agreement and observance of the Southern Baptist Faith and Message.
● Agreement and observance of the FBC Covenant, Constitution, and By-Laws
● Born again Christian, servant-hearted, with a genuine passion for worship, music, and Christian unity.
● Ability to play and perform using a musical instrument is preferred but not required.
● Become a member of Mountain City First Baptist Church.
Salary Range Commiserate with Experience –
(Suggested Range per Personnel Committee = $6, $10,400.00)
Pay: $ $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 per week
