Accounting manager

Position Summary/Mission

The Accounting Manager supports the vision, mission, ministry, and core values of First Baptist Church and is responsible for the day to day management of administrative processes, procedures and practices in relation to financial stewardship and reporting, employee records, processes and procedures and volunteers.

Reporting Relationships

• The Accounting Manager is accountable to the Executive Pastor.
• This position manages accounting process and volunteers.

Other Key Relationships

: Contract vendors, purchasing vendors, and service providers.

: All staff, ministry team leaders, deacons, trustees, committee chairs, and members of the congregation.

Essential Job Functions

Finance:

In support of the Executive and Senior Pastor and working with the Finance Committee and the Church Leadership Council, conduct and oversee the accounting and financial reporting of the Church

In support of the Executive and Senior Pastors, is responsible for maintaining effective current personnel systems, records and practices to support all church staff.

Accountabilities

• Serve with the staff to facilitate the preparation, monitoring and accomplishment of the Strategic Plan and Annual Ministry Plan and Annual Budget.
• Model professionalism, stewardship and confidentiality to protect the integrity of the church, privacy of staff and unity among church personnel.
• A devout follower of Christ and a servant leader.

Outcomes

• Annual budget is developed, approved, and budgetary issues reported.
• Financial records are accurate, transparent,and regularly reported to the Finance Committee, Church Leadership Council, and the congregation.

• Strong organizational, administrative, and management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and oversight.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
• A servant heart and the ability to model Christ-like leadership in all interactions.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

• 3-5 years experience in an administrative role.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Proven track record of leadership and experience.
• Ability and willingness to share the Christian faith through word and deed.
