What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Lender position at First Bank?
Join the First Bank team as a Mortgage Lender today. As a Mortgage Lender you will solicit, generate, originate, and close real estate loans. To do this you will lead customers through the mortgage process, identifying possible issues and resolving them in advance. You will work closely with representatives of outside organizations such as mortgage companies and attorneys and internal teams including central loan processing to originate and close mortgage loans. Other duties include:
Mortgage Loan Portfolio Management:
- Meeting with and accurately gathering relevant information from customers to input into mortgage software program.
- Leading customers through the mortgage loan process providing prompt, courteous and knowledgeable service; preempting issues when possible and handling them as they arise.
- Working closely with CLP (Central Loan Processing) department to complete mortgage loan process.
- Communicating and working with representatives of various outside organizations including but not limited to mortgage companies, PMI companies, realtors, attorneys, etc. to complete the mortgage process.
- Completing the underwriting process and making loans within bank guidelines, including determining the rate, fees, and ensuring all necessary underwriting is completed.
- Completing the loan closing process with the customer and submitting final documents.
- Controlling the past due loans on the real estate portfolio by maintaining current mortgages and collecting delinquent payments.
New Business Development:
- Generating new mortgage loan volume for the bank including soliciting new business relationships and deepening relationships with existing customers.
- Soliciting business from current and potential customers by phone, email, in-person meetings, etc.
- Networking and creating connections with realtors, brokers, builders, and other influencers to obtain customer referrals.
- Referring customers to other departments of the bank for services that could benefit them.
Other:
- Keeping up to date on the mortgage industry.
- Working as one collective bank team and assisting in other departments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
For success in this position, you must be able to communicate effectively, have great attention to detail and the ability to network and build relationships. At least to 2 years of lending experience and ability to get or transfer NMLS is needed.
