What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Climbing Instructor - Station Square position at First Ascent LLC?
FA Climbing & Fitness is on a mission to share our love of climbing with everyone, connect people through movement, and create welcoming, uplifting spaces that strengthen minds, bodies, and communities. We are looking to grow our Adult Instructor team with proactive, friendly, and psyched individuals who will help us continually get better at what we do as we discover how to best serve our members and guests.
ROLE SUMMARY
As a member of the Adult Instructor team, you help fulfill our mission by providing fantastic instruction and making newcomers and regulars alike feel at home in the gym. We will look to you to help us deliver a fantastic experience, guide people along their climbing journey with care—and have a blast along the way.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead high-value instructional programs for a variety of ability levels to help members and visitors improve their climbing ability.
Regular group classes (ex: Learning to Boulder, Guided Sessions, Upgrade: How to Climb V3, etc)
Evaluate the effectiveness of your own instruction and make changes to improve member/visitor satisfaction; work closely with the Program Director or Gym Manager to ensure high-quality of programs.
Contribute ideas for new programs/classes/workshops.
Our instructors will also have the option to instruct in other areas such as Youth Instruction, if desired.
Other group programs (ex: birthday parties, corporate team building events, etc.) are optional.
Special workshops/clinics (ex: climbing technique, etc.).
Individual instruction (ex: private coaching, etc.).
JOB DETAILS
Hourly, part time position
Minimum commitment of 4 hour-long classes a week, with 2 classes during the week (Monday through Thursday) and 2 classes on a weekend day (Friday, Saturday or Sunday).

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum 2 years of teaching or other relevant experience in adult instruction or program development
Engaging presence in front of a group; Creative problem solving skills; Positive attitude; Flexible working style
Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
Friendly, adaptable, and team-oriented approach
Enthusiasm for climbing, fitness, and community-building
Comfort using computer systems and standard office software
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT
Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, and climbing
Ability able to concentrate through distraction and communicate effectively
Indoor, climate-controlled environment with moderate to loud noise levels
