Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Licensed Veterinary Technician specializing in Surgery and Clinical Services to join our dynamic veterinary team. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by preparing surgical sites, maintaining aseptic techniques, and monitoring anesthesia using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment.
- Perform venous access procedures including IV insertion and animal catheterization to facilitate medication administration and fluid therapy.
- Support critical and intensive care patients through medication administration, vital sign monitoring, and emergency response efforts.
- Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), diagnostic testing, and sample processing utilizing veterinary laboratory equipment.
- Operate medical equipment including radiology machines for diagnostic imaging like X-ray and radiology diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnosis.
- Handle animal restraint safely during examinations, procedures, or treatments while demonstrating knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy.
- Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing dental cleanings or related tasks.
- Maintain detailed records using veterinary software, documenting all procedures, treatments, and patient information accurately.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding treatment plans, post-operative care, and general pet health advice to foster trust and clarity.
- Support laboratory diagnostics by preparing samples for testing and interpreting results in collaboration with the veterinary team.
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent credential with demonstrated experience in veterinary medicine.
- Proven experience with veterinary surgical assistance, anesthesia monitoring, and critical care management.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal handling techniques, and pet care best practices.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and medical equipment operation.
- Experience with anesthesia administration including general anesthesia protocols and vascular access techniques.
- Ability to handle dogs confidently through training in dog handling and animal restraint methods.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures related to pet dentistry is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- Competence in using veterinary software systems for record keeping and diagnostic documentation.
- Nice-to-have skills include kennel experience, equine experience, pet grooming skills, or additional emergency medicine expertise.
