WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A FIREWALL MENTOR?
The Mentor is an essential member of Firewall's leadership team. Mentors build a close relationship with a group of students, model positive behaviors, and support with academics all while having a ton of fun with kids every day!
Build meaningful, encouraging relationships with students and be a trusted, positive presence in their lives
Lead and participate in daily recreational activities that build relationships, teamwork, and HAVE FUN!
Support students with homework, projects, and test/quiz preparation while helping them grow in confidence and independence
Serve as a positive role model and help students navigate and resolve conflicts in healthy, respectful ways
Assist with daily program set-up and breakdown of site
Monitor and maintain accurate student data
Participate in quarterly trainings and special program events to continue growing as a mentor and leader

QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Mentor must be a United States citizen, a national or legal permanent resident and at least 18 years of age
- The Mentor must be able to work within Broward County Public Schools (all Firewall staff receive a background check).
- Ability to work well with students and coworkers.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- High school seniors (under 18) may also apply for AmeriCorps specific positions only
