The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the campus facilities and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and fully operational. This is a versatile, all-around role that blends general building maintenance (including electrical and refrigeration troubleshooting), construction/renovation projects, and ongoing facility upkeep. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a broad skill set in multiple trades and a commitment to keeping the campus clean and functional.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on campus facilities, including basic plumbing, hardware repairs, and mechanical systems.
- Perform intermediate electrical work, such as replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, and breakers, as well as basic circuit troubleshooting.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment (e.g., cleaning condenser coils, checking temperature logs, replacing filters, clearing drain lines).
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues to determine if they can be fixed in-house or require escalation to specialized outside contractors.
- Respond to and complete daily maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform framing (wood and metal) and structural repair work.
- Install, repair, and finish drywall, including taping and texturing.
- Complete painting, tile setting, concrete finishing, and basic sheet metal installation as required for campus improvement projects.
- Safely execute the demolition of small structures or interior spaces for remodeling.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of campus grounds, walkways, and parking areas.
- Perform exterior cleaning tasks, including pressure washing, debris removal, and trash collection.
- Ensure all personal work areas and active project sites are thoroughly cleaned and secured at the end of each shift.
- Utilize mobile apps or computer systems to receive work orders, track progress, and log completed tasks.
- Strictly adhere to all OSHA and company safety guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
