Role Overview
Carmichael Development, a third-generation sitework and earthwork contractor based in Woodstock, Georgia, is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead and modernize their preconstruction function. This person will oversee estimating across sitework and utility scopes, managing two estimators while still running key bids. The role combines hands-on estimating with leadership, coaching, and process improvement—driving greater accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness across bids.
Key Objectives
- Lead and develop the estimating team, setting standards and mentoring two estimators.
- Personally manage key bids and ensure accurate takeoffs, pricing, and proposals.
- Improve bid-to-hit ratios and protect margins by tightening feedback loops and market intel.
- Modernize workflows using B2W and Agtek to transition away from spreadsheet-based estimating.
- Collaborate with operations and project managers to confirm constructability, assess risk, and ensure profitable execution.
- Expand the backlog into commercial, industrial, and selective public-sector projects.
Candidate Profile
- 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil or site development with proven bid success.
- Proficient with Agtek and either B2W or HCSS (B2W preferred).
- Experienced in takeoffs, labor/equipment/material pricing, and bid assembly.
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Relationship-oriented—actively builds subcontractor and client networks.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
