Job Title - Budtender

Location – Fireplace Cannabis

Reports To - Dispensary Manager

Position Summary

A Budtender is the face of our dispensary, responsible for delivering exceptional customer

service and guidance to patrons seeking cannabis products. As a Budtender, you will combine

expert product knowledge with a passion for helping customers find the right items for their

needs. You will maintain strict compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations while

ensuring the dispensary operates efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Engagement & Service

o Greet and welcome all customers warmly, verifying identification and eligibility

before proceeding with a sale.

o Provide accurate, non-medical information about cannabis strains, products,

consumption methods, and effects.

o Respond to customer questions and concerns in an empathetic, knowledgeable

manner.

o Cultivate a positive, inviting atmosphere that encourages customers to explore

and learn.

2. Product Knowledge & Recommendations

o Stay up-to-date on the latest cannabis products, trends, industry news, and best

practices.

o Understand product offerings in-depth, including strain genetics (indica, sativa,

hybrid), potency (THC/CBD levels), flavor profiles, and potential effects.

o Offer personalized suggestions based on customers’ preferences, tolerance

levels, and desired experiences.

o Communicate accurate information regarding dosage guidelines, consumption

methods, and best practices.

3. Sales & Point of Sale (POS) Operations

o Accurately process sales transactions using the dispensary’s POS system.

o Handle cash, credit, and digital payments, maintaining strict accountability and

following established cash-handling protocols.

o Upsell and cross-sell when appropriate by highlighting relevant promotions or

complementary products.

o Manage inventory discrepancies by notifying the management team and assisting with inventory counts

4. Regulatory Compliance

o Adhere to all state and local regulations regarding the sale and handling of

cannabis products.

o Check identification to verify customer age and eligibility at every sale, ensuring

compliance with laws.

o Maintain updated knowledge of all compliance-related requirements and

procedures.

o Follow standardized recordkeeping practices, including tracking sales and

logging waste or defective products.

5. Dispensary Maintenance & Presentation

o Keep the dispensary floor clean, organized, and visually appealing.

o Restock shelves and displays to ensure product availability throughout shifts.

o Assist in maintaining accurate inventory counts by conducting regular checks and

audits.

o Promptly report any safety concerns or product quality issues to management.

6. Team Collaboration

o Communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues, sharing product or

customer insights.

o Participate in team trainings, staff meetings, and product knowledge sessions to

stay informed and engaged.

o Support team members during busy periods, ensuring smooth dispensary

operations and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Requirements

 Minimum Education & Experience

o High school diploma or equivalent required.

o Prior retail or customer service experience preferred.

o Experience working in a cannabis dispensary or similar environment is a plus.

 Knowledge & Skills

o Comprehensive understanding of cannabis strains, products, and consumption

methods (or a willingness to learn quickly).

o Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain

products clearly and patiently.

o Basic math skills for handling cash, processing payments, and reconciling till

balances.

o Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management software is beneficial.

 Licensing & Legal Requirements

o Must be 21 years of age or older (or meet the minimum age required by local

regulations).

o Must be able to pass any background checks as required by state or local law.

o Must maintain all required licenses and permits in good standing, as applicable (must have active MED badge).

 Personal Attributes

o Friendly, approachable, and empathetic, with a desire to help customers find the

best solutions.

o Enthusiastic about the cannabis industry, staying abreast of new products and

trends.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

open from 8am to midnight everyday

 Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods.

 Capacity to lift up to 30-50 lbs occasionally (e.g., moving product boxes).

 Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

 Comfortable working in a retail environment that follows strict health and safety protocols

(e.g., wearing gloves, masks, etc., if required).

Work Environment

The Budtender works in a retail dispensary setting where the primary focus is on customer

service, product knowledge, and compliance. The environment is fast-paced with frequent

customer interactions and requires consistent adherence to regulatory guidelines. The

successful candidate will thrive in an environment where safety, legality, and customer

experience are paramount.

Compensation & Benefits

 Hourly Wage or Salary: [$20/hr]
