Mobile Mechanic

Salary: $25-35/hr DOEAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Refuse Mechanic to join our service team. This role is responsible for providing on-site diagnostics, repair, and maintenance for refuse collection vehicles (front loaders, rear loaders, side loaders, and roll-off trucks) throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The ideal candidate has strong experience with hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and heavy-duty truck repairs, and thrives working independently in the field.Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on refuse collection vehicles at customer sites.- Service hydraulic systems, electrical systems, compaction equipment, and lifting arms.- Conduct preventive maintenance, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacements.- Operate service truck equipped with tools and parts to complete field repairs.- Document work performed, parts used, and service recommendations.- Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues, timelines, and solutions.- Ensure safety standards are followed at all times when working on heavy equipment.Qualifications- 3 years of experience as a diesel, heavy-duty, or refuse truck mechanic (field/mobile experiencepreferred).- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems used in refuse trucks.- Familiarity with McNeilus, Heil, Labrie, or similar refuse bodies a strong plus.- Ability to diagnose and repair heavy-duty truck systems with minimal supervision.- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record (CDL a plus).- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in outdoor environments year-round.- Own tools required; company provides specialized tools and service truck.Benefits- Competitive pay (hourly or salary, based on experience).- Company-provided service truck and fuel card.- Health, dental, and vision insurance.- Paid time off and holidays.- Ongoing technical training and career advancement opportunities.
