CO2 & Solventless Extraction Technician

Description

The CO2 & Solventless Extraction Technician has the responsibility of extracting, refining and fractionating cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material into a concentrated form using CO2 or Solventless techniques, whichever requested at the time. The CO2 & Solventless Extraction Technician is responsible for operating extraction and processing instrumentation and maintains knowledge of all processes in CO2 & Solventless manufacturing. The CO2 & Solventless Extraction Technician will work directly with and provide support to all extraction technicians, reporting to the Extraction & Formulation Specialist.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operating and tending to solventless extraction equipment and solvent extraction equipment that extracts and refines oil from a variety of cannabis plant material
• Records all analytical data within each step of the extraction process and inputs the data into extraction spreadsheets, METRC and/or other regulatory databases
• Cleans and maintains all equipment related to the extraction/separation processes
• Execute day-to-day processing operations as they pertain to workflow, extraction, analysis, and deadlines
• Operates highly sophisticated extraction equipment; processing concentrates and extracts
• Ensures the washing and sterilizing of laboratory glassware
• Compliance with Company policies and procedures
• Maintains strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory and documents production by completing forms, logs, and records
• Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratories, storerooms and working areas clean and organized
• Perform other related work as required by management
• Other duties as assigned

Relevant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• At least one (1) year laboratory experience in commercial-scale CO2 Extraction and/or Solventless Extraction.
• Knowledge of and hands-on experience with subcritical extraction, supercritical extraction and solvent evaporation desired.
• Experience with scientific laboratory equipment.
• Health and safety practices and precautions applicable to a chemistry laboratory
• Experience in proper, safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous waste.
• Capabilities with computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratories recordkeeping procedures
• Excellent communication, time-management and multi-tasking skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and requests
• At least 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass a background check

Physical Requirements:

• Long periods of prolonged standing and sitting
• Ability to observe and assess material that deviates from established company standards
• Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to perform manual labor tasks
• Must be capable of performing repetitive tasks for an extended period of time
• Some crouching or holding uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time
• Required to routinely lift 25-50 pounds.
• Required to wear PPE (mask, glasses, gloves, hair net)
• Ability to work overtime as required.

Work Environment:

• Similar to a busy manufacturing facility or warehouse
• Occasional exposure to loud trim machines, compressors or other facility equipment (ear protection provided) and extremely bright lights (eye protection provided)
• Constant interaction with internal and external stakeholders
