GENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE
Responsible for clerical functions, computer functions, patient phlebotomy duties, and other specimen collection procedures.
- Retention Bonus: $2,500 - $5,000! (based on experience)
ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets patients and correctly, enters physician orders into the laboratory computer system obtaining any necessary information from the outpatients.
- Performs patient registration duties as required.
- Performs proper patient identification during all specimen collections.
- Answers phones, completes requests, and relays messages.
- Maintains current knowledge of all computer applications necessary to carry out job duties.
- Provides clear and complete communication and documentation to co-workers, patients, and clients using all tools available.
- Regularly demonstrates the ability to serve patients of all ages in the routine performance of duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High school graduate or equivalent. Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certificate preferred.
- Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Must be currently certified in CPR/BLS (and recertified bi-annually).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive impression of the Medical Center at all times. Ability to handle sensitive telephone and face-to-face inquiries.
- Computer skills required.
- Ability to be mobile.
- Ability to read and write small letters and numbers.
- Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
- Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form to management, co-workers, patients, visitors, and members of the general public.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes.
- Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.
- Successful completion of a ninety (90) day get‑acquainted period.
