Firelands Federal Credit Union is looking for a Full-Time Member Relationship Consultant who brings together relationship building, lending experience, and a consultative sales mindset to make a meaningful difference for our members.
This role is a great fit for someone who has experience working with loan applications, sales, financial products, or performance goals and enjoys discovering what a member truly needs and connecting them with solutions that can improve their financial well-being.
What You'll DoAs a Member Relationship Consultant, you will build relationships with members, identify lending opportunities, and help connect people with financial solutions that make sense for their individual needs.
- Proactively identify consumer lending opportunities within our existing member base and the communities we serve.
- Meet with members to understand their financial needs and recommend appropriate loan products, loan structures, and ancillary products.
- Receive and assist loan applicants through multiple channels, including online, phone, and in-person referrals.
- Conduct loan application interviews and process applications across the full range of consumer lending products.
- Prepare and forward completed applications for underwriting and communicate decisions, next steps, and additional requirements to applicants.
- Ensure consumer loan documentation is accurate, complete, and processed timely.
- Look beyond the immediate request to identify additional opportunities where Firelands FCU may be able to help the member.
- Build relationships and develop contacts throughout the communities we serve to create referral opportunities and a future book of business.
- Work toward individual and team goals while maintaining a strong focus on doing what is right for the member.
- Help spread financial well-being by educating members and connecting them with solutions that support their financial goals.
We are looking for someone who is relationship-focused, comfortable with goals, and motivated by finding the right solutions for members.
- Previous lending and/or loan application experience, preferably within banking, credit union, consumer finance, or financial services.
- Experience in sales or a goal-driven environment, with the ability to identify opportunities and confidently recommend products and services.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to ask the right questions, listen, and uncover member needs.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- A genuine passion for helping members improve their financial well-being.
You enjoy the challenge of a goal, but you also understand that great sales start with great relationships.
You do not believe in simply selling a product. You believe in asking questions, understanding the bigger picture, and helping someone discover a solution that genuinely makes sense for them.
You are comfortable talking about lending, recognizing opportunities, following up with potential borrowers, and building relationships that extend beyond a single transaction.
