Overview:
Fire System Design Works LLC, a division of Fireline Sprinkler LLC, is rapidly growing and looking to expand its team to include an additional Design Engineer in Charleston, SC. We are a leading provider of fire protection systems, with a rich history spanning over 30 years in the industry.
The Design Engineer is responsible for designing fire protection systems, conducting all steps to ensure quality and compliance, and coordinating with the department supervisor and applicable sales representative.

Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design small commercial and/or residential fire sprinkler systems with general supervision
- Perform hydraulic calculations for designed projects
- Use CAD in the design of fire protection systems
- Conduct construction site review/survey on buildings if needed.
- Submit plans to General Contractors/owners and follow specifications.
- Coordinate with other trades
- Communicate with contractors and AHJs under supervision
- Finalize fabrication techniques with the appropriate stakeholders
- Complete final shop drawings showing all pertinent information
- Generate materials lists for completed designs
- Compile the foreman’s pack, including all necessary forms and paperwork.
- Process all necessary close-out documents
Design Engineer Qualifications:
- 3 years of current fire sprinkler design experience
- NICET certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of all NFPA standards 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, and 25
- Understand of code compliance and local AHJ requirements for standard systems
- Ideally recent experience designing in AutoSPRINK
- Apply mathematical concepts, such as geometry, fractions, and measuring
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as blueprints, codes, standards, specifications, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in-person and electronically
- Time management and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
