Duties
- Install and commission fire suppression systems according to blueprints, schematics, and system design specifications using power tools and hand tools.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire sprinkler fittings, sensors, alarms, and low voltage electrical components to ensure optimal operation.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, CAD files, schematics, and electrical diagrams to support system installation and troubleshooting.
- Perform field service tasks including system upgrades, repairs, troubleshooting electrical issues related to fire alarm systems, and verifying compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Inspect construction sites to ensure fire suppression systems are installed correctly and meet all safety regulations; provide technical guidance during construction inspections.
- Collaborate with sales teams on fire alarm sales and system upgrades by providing technical expertise on system design and specifications.
- Utilize knowledge of mechanical systems, sensors, and electrical experience to diagnose issues efficiently and implement effective solutions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician in fire alarm or fire suppression system installation and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, system design, CAD software, and construction processes.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using power tools and hand tools for system installation or repair.
- Familiarity with low voltage wiring, electrical codes (NEC), sensors, alarms, and fire sprinkler fitting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for complex fire alarm or suppression systems accurately.
- Knowledge of construction inspection procedures related to fire protection systems ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues related to fire alarm systems effectively.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and vendors; experience in alarm system sales or fire alarm sales is a plus.
