Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Fire extinguisher, fire suppression technician to join our team, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining fire protection systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fire safety regulations and standards, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders in the construction and engineering sectors. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and practical experience in fire safety systems.
Duties
- Design fire protection systems, including fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to develop effective system designs.
- Conduct construction inspections to verify that installations meet design specifications and safety standards.
- Utilize CAD software for drafting detailed designs and layouts of fire protection systems.
- Perform field service tasks, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems and components.
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure proper installation of fire safety equipment.
- Provide technical support for fire extinguisher and fire suppression system sales, ensuring clients understand system capabilities and benefits.
- Maintain knowledge of current codes related to fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems and installations.
- Work with hand tools and power tools to install or repair fire protection equipment as needed.
Skills
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding of construction documents.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to fire protection systems and equipment.
- Experience with fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems and installation practices.
- Familiarity with electrical experience relevant to alarm systems and low voltage applications.
- Ability to work effectively with sensors, alarms, and other fire detection technologies.
- Previous experience as a service technician in the fire protection industry is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and compliance in all tasks performed.
