Role Description The Fire Alarm Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the San Antonio, Texas Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for installing, programming, testing, inspecting, and maintaining fire alarm and low-voltage life safety systems in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturer specifications. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting system issues, performing routine service calls, documenting work performed, and ensuring all systems are fully operational and compliant. The technician will interact directly with customers to explain findings, recommend solutions, and provide clear updates on service activities. The role also involves working with a team, following safety procedures, and maintaining tools, equipment, and inventory in good condition.
Qualifications

  • Strong technical skills in Low Voltage Engineering and Alarm Systems, with experience installing and servicing fire alarm and related low-voltage equipment.
  • Proven ability in Troubleshooting and diagnostics for fire alarm panels, detectors, notification devices, and related system components.
  • Knowledge of Life Safety codes, standards, and best practices, including familiarity with NFPA guidelines and local regulatory requirements.
  • Effective Customer Service skills, including clear communication, professionalism on-site, and the ability to explain technical issues in understandable terms.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses for fire alarm or low-voltage work in Texas (or ability to obtain), and a valid driver’s license with a reliable driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation; comfort using test equipment and basic hand tools.
  • Physical ability to perform field work, including standing, climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and working in varying environmental conditions.
  • Prior experience as a fire alarm technician, low-voltage technician, or in a related trade is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required, technical or vocational training is a plus.
