Location: Agawam, MA. (Field-Based / Office Support as Needed)
Department: Fire Alarm Division
Reports To: Fire Alarm Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Fire Alarm Programmer is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning a variety of fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. This position plays a key role in ensuring systems are installed, tested, and certified in compliance with NFPA, state, and local codes.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and highly skilled in system configuration for major manufacturers such as Notifier, EST, Siemens, Simplex, and Fike.


Key Responsibilities
  • Program and configure fire alarm control panels (FACPs), annunciators, and related devices.

  • Review electrical and fire alarm drawings to ensure system integrity and programming accuracy.

  • Perform final system checkout, device testing, and signal verification to ensure compliance.

  • Interface with municipal fire departments, AHJs, and clients during final acceptance testing.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming or communication issues in the field.

  • Coordinate with installation and service teams to ensure smooth project handoffs.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of programming revisions, device counts, and as-built changes.

  • Assist with customer training on new fire alarm systems and operational functions.

  • Stay current with software updates, code changes, and manufacturer certifications.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and participate in ongoing technical training.


Qualifications
  • NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.

  • 3 years of experience in fire alarm programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Proficient with software tools for Notifier, EST, Siemens, or other major platforms.

  • Strong understanding of NFPA 72, NFPA 70, and local fire codes.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and wiring schematics.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

  • Ability to work independently and in coordination with field technicians.
