Position Summary

The Sr. Licensed Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, service, programming, and repair of commercial fire alarm systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring systems are compliant with NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, and state/local codes.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on technical expertise, the ability to mentor junior technicians, and a customer-first mindset. This role involves fieldwork, coordination with clients and contractors, and occasional on-call availability for emergency service needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, service, and repair fire alarm systems for established customers in accordance with NFPA 72 and local codes.

  • Conduct system testing and programming for a variety of manufacturers (Notifier, EST, Siemens, Simplex, Gamewell FCI, etc.).

  • Troubleshoot fire alarm system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

  • Program and configure fire alarm control panels (FACPs), annunciators, and initiating devices.

  • Document work performed through detailed service tickets, inspection reports, and system logs.

  • Provide on-site customer training and support as needed.

  • Assist in mentoring and training apprentice or junior technicians in proper installation and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours service and emergency response.

  • Maintain professional appearance, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction on all job sites.

Qualifications
  • Valid MA Class D Low Voltage License required; MA Electrician License preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience servicing, installing, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems.

  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm Code).

  • Proficiency with software tools for major fire alarm manufacturers (Notifier, EST, Siemens, Simplex, etc.).

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and manage multiple assignments.

  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
