As a Fire Hose Technician, your work directly supports the safety of fire departments, refineries, and defense installations across the country.

Position Overview

You will work as part of a 3–6-person crew at customer sites throughout the country. Crews typically travel for 3–5 weeks at a time, followed by approximately 3–5 days off at home before launching again from the designated general meeting location. This is a fully travel-based role with no local opportunities available. Applicants must reside in the state in which they are applying and be able to travel directly to job sites or travel with the crew. Time spent on the road and at home may vary based on business needs, and these timeframes are general estimates.

You’ll spend each day working outdoors, rolling and lifting fire hoses, setting up test equipment, operating systems, and assisting with loading gear including climbing on fire trucks when needed. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role that requires stamina, strength, and a strong sense of teamwork. You will build lasting bonds with your crew while traveling to new places and tackling meaningful work each day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive company vehicles as needed to support team travel, including pulling enclosed trailers.
  • Load, unload, and stack large volumes of fire hose, including hoses weighing 80–100 lbs.
  • Uncouple and recouple hose sections using spanner wrenches.
  • Label, barcode, and lubricate hose components.
  • Climb on top of fire trucks to load hose using a conveyor system.
  • Set up and tear down FireCatt’s mobile testing system at customer locations.
  • Operate specialized equipment to test hoses and ground ladders.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all minor mechanical issues, including basic vehicle and trailer maintenance.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license; must pass MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check and be insurable.
  • Must meet company driving and insurance eligibility requirements for operation of company vehicles, which currently includes being at least 21 years of age.
  • Must live in the state you are applying to.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform sustained physical labor in demanding work environments.
  • Physically able to bend, lift, roll, and stack hose (80–100 lbs.) repeatedly throughout the day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable with shared lodging accommodations during travel assignments, which may include sharing a hotel room with one other teammate.
  • Willing and able to travel 100% of the time, including 3–5-week loops with launches from the designated General Meeting location.
  • Willing and able to climb on fire trucks as needed.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and reliability
  • Previous trailer-pulling experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a background check and drug test if required by law, customer requirements, or business necessity.

Schedule & Hours

Schedules may vary based on weather, customer demands, travel, and job site conditions. Start times are often early, and weekly hours can fluctuate depending on operational needs. Some weeks may include overtime, while others may involve lighter schedules. Flexibility, adaptability, and dependability are essential for success in this role.

  • Starting Pay: $19.90/hour.
  • Per Diem: $36/day while traveling.
