Fire Hose Technician – 100% Travel | $19.30/hr $32 Per Diem
About FireCatt
FireCatt is the nation's most accurate and technology-driven fire hose testing company. We serve fire departments, military facilities, refineries, and industrial sites across the U.S. Our teams travel the country ensuring firefighter equipment is safe and ready to perform when it matters most.
What You’ll Do
Join a 4–6 person crew, working outdoors at customer sites across the country. You’ll:
- Travel for 3–5 weeks at a time, with 3–5 days off at home between loops
- Load, test, roll, and move fire hose weighing up to 100 lbs
- Set up equipment, operate testing systems, and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues
- Drive company vehicles and pull trailers as needed
- Go up on top of fire trucks to assist with loading
What the Job Is Really Like
This isn’t a 9–5 job or a road trip with friends. You’ll be up early, outside in all weather, lifting heavy hose, and solving problems in real time. Our vans and Mobile Test Labs (MTLs) are used hard and cover long distances—mechanical issues do come up, and being able to troubleshoot or make basic repairs is a big asset. You’ll be relied on by your team, and the work you do matters. It’s tough—but it’s meaningful.
What You’ll Need
- Valid driver’s license & clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) *REQUIRED*
- 21 years old (insurance requirement)
- Live in the state where you’re applying
- 2 years of physically demanding work experience
- Experience working outdoors
- Mechanically inclined and able to problem-solve in the field
- Willingness to travel 100% of the time and share hotel rooms
- Previous trailer-pulling experience strongly preferred
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
Schedule & Hours
Start times are often early and the daily workload is physically demanding. Weekly hours can vary depending on location, weather, and customer needs—some weeks include overtime, while others may be slower. Flexibility and reliability are essential.
Pay & Benefits
- $19.30/hr $32 per diem
- Health, dental, vision, and 401(k)
- Paid life & long-term disability
- Advancement opportunities into leadership roles
Why It Matters
When firefighters respond to emergencies, their equipment must work—no excuses. The job you’ll do ensures their hoses, ladders, and nozzles are safe and reliable. You’ll be protecting first responders and the communities they serve.
