The Demolition Compliance Engineer is a highly valued team member responsible for supporting HSE, Project Management, and Field Operations in the successful execution of demolition projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and other departments to support interior and exterior demolition projects, including selective demolition, structural demolition, industrial demolition, site clearing, and occupied-environment work, while helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents, permitting requirements, environmental regulations, and regulatory standards.
TOTAL COMPENSATION
$78,600.00 to $122,400.00
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure field compliance with contracts, regulatory requirements, environmental requirements, permits, and Company standards and safety policies by reviewing project documentation and communicating requirements to field leadership and project teams.
- Obtain, track, and coordinate all required permits, agency approvals, inspections, utility disconnects, traffic control plans, environmental documentation, and other regulatory requirements associated with demolition activities.
- Track, validate, and document project related LEED and regulatory recycling requirements as necessary for successful project execution.
- Perform field measurements and quantity tracking to support project controls, cost tracking, forecasting, and billing accuracy.
- Assist Project Teams with project specific documentation including; site-specific safety plans, MOPs, SOPs, JHAs, change orders, schedule modification, billings, forecasts, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Research and help resolve drawing conflicts, utility conflicts, constructability concerns, sequencing issues, and field coordination challenges.
- Assist in preparing project documentation including status reports, punch lists, sketches, demolition sequencing information, material calculations, disposal tracking, and project logs.
- Assist in preparing project performance updates and supporting documentation for leadership teams and stakeholders.
- Provide technical and operational support for demolition activities including construction planning, sequencing, means and methods coordination, interpretation of plans and specifications, and constructability documentation for submittal.
- Participate in client meetings, subcontractor meetings, utility coordination meetings, and internal project meetings as needed.
- Support field teams in resolving operational challenges, maintaining project quality, and ensuring alignment with schedules and project objectives.
- Support an environment that encourages open communication, collaboration, accountability, and informed decision-making.
- Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and drive assignments through successful completion while coordinating with all involved parties.
- Confer with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, clients, consultants, utility representatives, and governing agencies to resolve project-related issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control measures and project tracking processes.
- Interpret and explain plans, specifications, demolition sequencing, hazard recognition, mitigation, and contract requirements to field teams and project stakeholders through the OPOH process.
- Ensure all business is conducted ethically and in compliance with all applicable laws, permit requirements, regulations, and Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Big-picture perspective with the ability to understand demolition projects from both operational and strategic viewpoints while prioritizing competing needs and timelines.
- Strong communication, organizational, and people skills, including the ability to drive results and maintain composure in fast-paced and rapidly changing project environments, providing clear, organized, and solution-oriented support to project teams.
- Solid understanding of construction and demolition operations with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings, understand sequencing and site logistics, and understand utility coordination and occupied-space considerations.
- Understanding of permitting processes, inspections, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong initiative, accountability, and willingness to learn and grow within demolition and construction operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including:
- Ability to identify and proactively address project risks and operational conflicts
- Ability to interpret project specifications, scope requirements, and contract documents
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing site conditions and operational challenges
- Ability to maintain awareness of project schedules, safety requirements, quality standards, and project goals
- General understanding of OSHA requirements, demolition safety practices, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as required to support project demands.
- Intermediate computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling software.
- Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred
- Experience in demolition, heavy civil construction, environmental remediation, or related construction operations.
- Understanding of project cost controls, forecasting, budgeting, and production tracking.
- Experience with Viewpoint, B2W, Bluebeam, AGTEK, or related construction software platforms.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
This position requires the ability to communicate in English with co-workers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
This job requires the ability to do and understand complex math equations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work functions require the physical ability and mobility to safely walk in uneven, undeveloped, slanted, and potentially muddy grounds as well as climb various pieces of equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently. Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time. Work functions also require the ability to withstand the office environment, sitting and standing for extended periods of time, reading a computer screen for extended durations, and maneuvering paperwork.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Combination of outside work and office environment. Outdoor work exposed to variant weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, snow) and muddy ground conditions. Indoor work environment includes changing office temperatures, extended desk, and screen time.
