About the Role
As an Assistant General Manager, you will own various aspects of the restaurant's operations, focusing on bar and beverage leadership, team development, operational performance, guest experience, standards compliance, and culinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
Bar & beverage leadership
- Own the beverage program — from ordering and inventory to presentation and cost control.
- Set the standard for bar service excellence.
Team development
- Recruit, train, mentor, and inspire front-of-house staff.
- Build a team culture grounded in accountability, growth, and hospitality.
Operations & financial performance
- Support the GM in managing daily operations, scheduling, cost controls, vendor relationships, and overall profitability.
Guest experience
- Monitor service quality, address guest concerns with care, and continuously raise the bar on what a great dining experience looks like.
Standards & compliance
- Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain and improve SOPs that keep operations running smoothly and consistently.
Culinary collaboration
- Partner closely with chefs and the culinary team to deliver seamless service and ensure front and back of house are always aligned.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in a high-volume restaurant, with a strong focus on bar and beverage operations.
- A natural leader who can coach, mentor, and motivate — not just manage.
- Financial acumen — comfortable with P&L basics, cost controls, scheduling, and inventory management.
- Strong communicator — equally effective with guests, kitchen staff, and ownership.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable experiences — every shift, for every guest.
- Entrepreneurial mindset — you spot what needs fixing and act on it, without waiting to be asked.
- Ability to commute to or relocate to Salem, MA before start date.
