About us
We are a small US merchant cash advance funder. We write our own paper, underwrite our own files, and originate through ISO brokers. We do not buy a credit decision from a platform.
Team of 4–6. No layers. Office in Aventura — this role is on-site, daily. Not remote.
What is already built: a scoring engine with hard gates, a contract suite, reconciliation of a legacy book, a collector app.
What is not built: an ISO network and live origination volume. Own originations are near zero. This seat exists to change that.
The role
Head of Underwriting with COO weight — the operator of the book, not a corporate credit executive.
You have run a real MCA funder: Head of Underwriting, COO, or founder of a shop doing $5–50 million a year in originations through brokers. You personally approved and declined broker files for years. You know what breaks first when a small shop grows: paper, ACH returns, stacking, the book of record.
Responsibilities
- Build the ISO network: call brokers, write agreements, cut off shops that send junk
- Underwrite files yourself in the first months — there is no UW team to delegate to
- Size offers against a combined-payment ceiling (35–40% of monthly revenue across all positions); decline fast and in writing
- Own FPD, ACH returns, and broker quality as numbers you can recite
- Sit in the P&L: operating cost, break-even, what one funded deal actually earns
- Decide what happens to the legacy book: work it, settle it, or sell it
- Hire the first underwriter and ops seat when volume justifies it
Qualifications
- 3 years personally underwriting MCA / revenue-based financing at a funder (not a bank, not consumer lending, not SBA)
- Came from a shop doing roughly $5–50 million a year through ISO brokers
- Can name from memory: FPD, portfolio return rate, and the rule you used to cut off a broker
- Has funded, declined, fired brokers, chased defaults, and negotiated settlements — hands-on
- Fluent English
- Able to work on-site in Aventura, FL, daily
