Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician / Optician to join our dynamic eye care team. In this vital role, you will assist Doctors in providing exceptional patient care through comprehensive eye examinations, diagnostic testing, and optical services. Your expertise will ensure accurate assessments, maintain patient comfort, and uphold the highest standards of clinical confidentiality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced ophthalmic diagnostic equipment while delivering compassionate service that makes a real difference in patients’ lives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ophthalmic patient examinations, including measuring vital signs and collecting medical histories to support accurate diagnosis.
  • Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as OCT, Optos, visual fields, ERG, and tonometry devices to assist in diagnosing eye conditions.
  • Maintain patient records accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with medical records and confidentiality policies.
  • Assist with intake procedures by gathering patient information, verifying insurance details, and explaining treatment processes clearly.
  • Support clinical procedures by practicing aseptic techniques, managing medical equipment operation, and adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Provide direct patient care by addressing questions, ensuring comfort during examinations, and delivering excellent patient service aligned with healthcare standards.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to eye care.
  • Proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as OCT, and pre-test devices.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR management for accurate documentation of patient visits and procedures.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to maintain strict patient confidentiality and uphold clinical confidentiality policies.
  • Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and direct patient care.
  • Basic retail math skills for optical sales support when assisting patients with eyewear selections and measurements.
