Finn Dixon & Herling LLP, one of the premier corporate law firms in Connecticut with approximately 90 attorneys, is seeking a detail-oriented, technology-savvy Desktop Support Specialist to join its team.
This individual will report to the Desktop Support Manager and is responsible for supporting the firm's LAN and PC software applications, including testing, installing, configuring and upgrading software packages.
Please note this is an evening shift, Monday – Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. This role will primarily be based in the office, with the ability to work remotely every second Friday, subject to the firm’s Telecommuting and Remote Work Policy.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Technology Maintenance, Upgrades and Enhancements
- Installs, configures, and maintains an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers.
- Performs system monitoring and verifies the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems.
- Reviews system and application logs and verifies completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups.
- Analyzes network and server resource consumption and controls user access.
- May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
- Assists with the installation, maintenance and support of hardware, software, and other technology-based infrastructure and materials.
- Installs and upgrades software licenses.
- Supports cloud phone system.
Desktop and End User Support
- Provides first and second level helpdesk support for system users, and escalates more difficult problems to Desktop Support Manager.
- Reviews and summarizes the daily security reports, daily iManage threat manager reports, and daily SEIM reports.
- Ensures users are correctly and completely set-up during new hire on-boarding both in the office and from home.
- Installs, modifies, and repairs computer hardware and software.
- Installs and deploys windows updates.
- Manages Exchange and Microsoft 365 user accounts and mail group.
- External and internal website management and content updates.
- Sets up and breaks down mobile offices for Litigation team and generates Litigation e-discovery document reviews and productions. Assists clients with removing information from their systems.
- Annually reviews, updates and maintains distribution lists.
- Writes training manuals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
- This is a mid-level position, normally requiring three to five or more years of work experience. An associate’s degree or completion of A and Network certifications are considered assets, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The ability to communicate complex information to technical and nontechnical users is essential.
- Working knowledge of specific hardware and software systems used by the firm is an asset (i.e. Hyper-V/VMWare/Citrix).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to be proactive and work independently.
- Able to adapt to changing priorities and multi-task on time-sensitive projects.
- Flexibility to work overtime when required.
Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills, knowledge and qualifications.
