CDL Class B Driver / Service Technician
Position Summary
The CDL Class B Driver / Service Technician is responsible for the safe transportation, delivery, installation, servicing, and pickup of company equipment and products at customer locations. This position combines commercial driving responsibilities with hands-on service work, requiring excellent customer service, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles requiring a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate driver logs.
- Deliver, install, service, and remove equipment at customer locations.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on equipment.
- Load and unload trucks while ensuring cargo is properly secured.
- Educate customers on the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain accurate service records, delivery documentation, and work orders.
- Keep company vehicles, tools, and equipment clean and in good working condition.
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and customers regarding schedules and service needs.
- Respond to emergency service calls as required.
- Assist with warehouse, inventory, and shop duties during non-driving periods.
- Represent the company professionally while providing exceptional customer service.
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous commercial driving and/or field service experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic equipment repairs.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily routes efficiently.
- Basic computer or mobile device proficiency for completing electronic work orders and Electronic Truck Logs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds; occasionally lift more with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions.
Working Conditions
- Local travel with daily customer visits.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work as business needs require.
- Exposure to weather, dust, noise, and industrial environments.
- Home daily (depending on route assignments).
