Finish Carpentry – Job Overview

Finish Carpenters are responsible for completing the detailed interior woodwork that gives a building its final, polished appearance. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and a strong eye for detail. Finish carpenters install and complete decorative and functional components such as doors, casing, baseboards, crown molding, cabinets, shelving, stairs, and custom trim features.

Finish Carpenters work closely with project managers, other trades, and homeowners to ensure that the finished product aligns with design plans, meets quality expectations, and is completed on schedule. This position requires a high level of skill, professionalism, and the ability to work efficiently in both residential and commercial spaces.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install doors, casing, baseboards, crown molding, and other trim components
  • Install cabinets, shelving, and custom woodwork
  • Read and interpret blueprints, trim schedules, and layout plans
  • Measure, cut, and fit materials with precision
  • Perform touch-ups, adjustments, and alignments for a refined finish
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and uphold jobsite professionalism
  • Ensure all installations meet quality, safety, and building code standards
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to maintain project timelines

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in finish/trim carpentry
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Ability to follow detailed plans and instructions
  • Reliable transportation and personal tools
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Work Environment

Finish Carpenters typically work indoors in residential homes, commercial buildings, multi-unit properties, and remodel jobs. The role may require lifting, standing for extended periods, and moving materials throughout the jobsite.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
