We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused professional to join our team as an Income Tax and Payroll Specialist with a strong background in bookkeeping or accounting.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing individual and business income tax returns, managing payroll for a diverse client base, monthly bookkeeping and general accounting functions. This role requires in-depth tax knowledge, accuracy in payroll processing, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual, income tax returns (Federal and State)
- Process payroll for clients on a regular schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly)
- Prepare and file payroll tax reports (941, 940, state tax filings, etc.)
- Handle W-2s, 1099s, and other year-end payroll reporting
- Maintain accurate general ledger and bookkeeping records for assigned clients
- Reconcile bank statements, manage A/P and A/R, and post journal entries
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation and provide guidance
- Assist with tax planning and compliance
- Stay current on tax laws and payroll regulations
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in income tax preparation and payroll processing
- Strong background in bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Proficiency with bookkeeping, tax and payroll software (e.g., Drake, QuickBooks, ADP, Gusto, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Strong communication and client service skills
- EA designation a plus but not required
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
