## Job Summary
CAPTAIN FOR SCENIC TOUR BOAT CRUISES LEAVING FROM PERKINS COVE, OGUNQUIT MAINE. Finestkind Scenic Cruises operates three traditional, Maine built wooden vessels which adhere not only to the strict safety standards of the U.S. Coast Guard, but to our own high standards as well. They all feature diesel engines, modern navigational and lifesaving equipment and comfortable passenger seating; under cover or in the fresh Maine air. Each vessel is tested for stability and passes a rigid inspection every season. CAPTAIN MUST HAVE AT LEAST A 25 TON MASTERS LICENSE. SEASONAL HOURS MAY-OCTOBER MINIMUM 16 HOURS/WEEK. COMPETITIVE PAY WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF TIPS, EXCELLENT WORKING CONDITIONS. FAMILY RUN BUSINESS SINCE 1956!
CAPTAIN WILL BE DRIVING VESSEL MAY - OCTOBER FOR SEASONAL SCENIC TOUR BOAT COMPANY IN BUSY PERKINS COVE. BOATS LOCATED AT BARNACLE BILLY’S DOCK. THE ROUTE CONSISTS OF COASTLINE TO NUBBLE LIGHTHOUSE AND ALSO THE ISLAND LEDGES IN MOODY. TRIPS INCLUDE STAFF AND CUSTOMERS OF ALL AGES AND BOATS HOLD 37-50 PASSENGERS. TRIPS ARE FROM 50 MINUTES TO 1.5 HOURS IN LENGTH.
## Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all activities on board the vessel
- Ensure the safety of passengers and crew at all times
- Navigate and operate the vessel in accordance with maritime laws and regulations
- Oversee maintenance and repair tasks, including mechanical systems
- Communicate effectively with crew members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth operations
- Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently
- Maintain logs and records of activities and incidents

-ASSIST WITH BOARDING TRIPS
-LOG PASSENGERS
-ASSIST WITH VESSEL CLEANING AND ORGANIZATION
-REPORT EQUIPMENT CONCERNS TO SUPERVISOR
-SMALL BOAT NAVIGATION IN TIGHT CONDITIONS
-ASSIST CREW DURING BUSY TIMES TO ENSURE TRIPS RUN SMOOTHLY AND LEAVE ON TIME
-HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF SERVICES PROVIDED
-HAVE A FRIENDLY DEMEANOR AND BE ABLE TO RELIABLY INTERACT WITH MANY PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE DAY
-PASSENGER SAFETY AND COMFORT; PROPER RADIO USE
-COMMUNICATE THOROUGHLY AND EFFECTIVELY WITH CUSTOMERS, STAFF AND SUPERVISORS
## Requirements
- Strong mechanical knowledge to oversee vessel systems and maintenance
- Ability to manage and lead a team effectively
- Proficient in safety protocols
-BE ABLE TO PASS PRE EMPLOYMENT AND RANDOM DRUG SCREENS THROUGHOUT SEASON.
-BE TIMELY, ENTHUSIASTIC, CAPABLE, FLEXIBLE AND AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.
-WORK WELL WITH OTHERS AND BE WILLING TO ASSIST CREW AT ALL TIMES.
