Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Freight Handler to join our fast-paced logistics team. Duties
- Load and unload shipments using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Operate RF scanners and other inventory management tools to accurately track incoming and outgoing materials.
- Prepare orders efficiently for shipment, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in order processes.
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, verifying shipment contents against documentation and inspecting freight for damage or discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, organized warehouse environment by properly storing materials on pallets or shelves and ensuring clear pathways for safe movement.
- Conduct manual handling of materials with proper lifting techniques to prevent injury during heavy lifting tasks.
- Support warehouse supervisor in implementing safety procedures in compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Cross-Dock, warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, or related warehouse operations.
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, and pallet jacks; certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and the use of RF scanners for tracking materials.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely with proper lifting techniques; physical stamina for heavy lifting is essential.
- Basic math skills for measuring, counting, and verifying shipments accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with organizational skills for order picking and load & unload activities.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Warehouse experience working in a cross-dock facility is highly desirable.
