About the Role:

As a Cook at Grand Vista Hotel, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests by preparing high-quality meals in a timely and efficient manner. You will be responsible for ensuring that all food preparation meets the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and presentation. This role requires close collaboration with the kitchen team, including the Head Chef, to maintain smooth kitchen operations and uphold our culinary standards. You will contribute to menu execution, assist in inventory management, and help maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment. Ultimately, your work will directly impact guest satisfaction and the overall reputation of our food service offerings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Ability to read and speak English to understand recipes, safety instructions, and communicate with team members.
  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen tasks.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working under the supervision of a Head Chef or in a similar culinary leadership environment.
  • Formal culinary training or certification.
  • Familiarity with hotel or hospitality food service operations.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively during busy service periods.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and food cost control.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Manage food inventory and assist in receiving and storing supplies as needed.
  • Stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs and moving kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure timely plating and presentation of dishes to meet guest expectations.

Skills:

The required skills such as food preparation, manual dexterity, and the ability to stand for extended periods are essential for performing daily kitchen tasks efficiently and safely. Speaking and reading English enables clear communication with the kitchen team and understanding of recipes and safety protocols. Food production skills ensure that meals are prepared consistently and meet quality standards. Physical abilities like climbing stairs and moving objects are necessary for managing kitchen logistics and maintaining workflow. Preferred skills, including experience with a Head Chef and knowledge of inventory management, enhance the ability to contribute to kitchen leadership and operational efficiency.
