The role provides hands-on experience in industrial safety management and offers the intern exposure to real-world safety practices while supporting the department's mission of maintaining a safe and compliant work environment across our 63-acre facility.
Detailed Description:
- Provide general support of the EHS department.
- Promote and assist production with embracing a proactive safety culture.
- Observe and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with company safety standards as well as all local, state and federal guidelines.
- Provide workers compensation support.
- First level support for documenting incidents to identify cause and determine detailed proactive measures to prevent such instances in the future.
- Support EHS team in order to analyze and recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Provide support for safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
- Working with onsite medical clinic.
- Provide support for new-employee and contractor health and safety orientations, and participate in the development of materials for these presentations.
- Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
- The ability to handle minor medical treatment and properly triage minor medical injuries or industrial incidents.
- Provide support for environmental spill prevention and response.
- Assist with OSHA, WIDNR, and Coast Guard inspections.
- Break down of time: 50% field support / 50% office support.
- Additional projects as assigned.
- Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Must have attained required credits and be considered to have obtained junior or senior level status in an accredited Occupational Health & Safety program
- Valid Driver's License
- Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Power Point
