The successful candidate will align EHS programs across FMM, FBS, and ACE Marine to support safe production, reduce incident rates, advance sustainability initiatives, and lower cost drivers (PPE, consumables, and waste management), without compromising safety or compliance.
Primary Reporting Location
The primary reporting location for this role will be at Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, WI. This position provides leadership and oversight across all shipyards within the System of Shipyards, located in Marinette, WI, Sturgeon Bay, WI and Green Bay, WI, therefore, travel will be scheduled as needed to support consistent implementation, coaching, and follow-through.

Direct leadership of EHS Managers and Coordinators across the yard system. Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, workload planning, and developing a strong bench of capable future EHS leaders.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Alignment
- Develop and lead a consolidated EHS strategy across all yards, ensuring policies and programs are standardized, current, and consistently deployed.
- Promote a unified safety culture rooted in shared responsibility, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Establish auditable performance standards and KPIs across the system; use data to drive decisions.
- Lead environmental compliance programs including hazardous waste, air permits, water discharge, stormwater, and soil management.
- Advance sustainability and environmental impact reduction initiatives with measurable cost and waste-reduction outcomes.
- Improve recycling streams, hazardous material minimization, and consumable controls (PPE, solvents, abrasives, etc.) to reduce cost without diminishing protection.
- Ensure consistent application of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1915 requirements across all shops, dry docks, and vessels.
- Evaluate work processes, equipment, and physical environments to ensure safe conditions and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee incident investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons learned roll-outs across yards.
- Standardize EHS training curriculum for all shipyards, including onboarding, annual compliance, and leadership safety expectations.
- Partner with HR and Operations to develop responsible supervisor practices focused on accountability, coaching, and hazard recognition.
- Lead risk assessment programs that proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
- Manage industrial hygiene programs (noise, air monitoring, lead, etc.).
- Ensure readiness for emergency response events, including drills and medical response coordination.
- Track and manage EHS budget, with targeted cost reductions in PPE, hazardous waste disposal, and consumable usage.
- Evaluate vendors and supply contracts for efficiency and alignment to sustainability goals.
- Reduce reliance on high-cost, low-impact safety “band-aids” and invest in engineering and process controls that solve problems permanently.
