Position Summary
The Accounting Manager oversees primary accounting operations and ensures the accurate, consistent, and timely reporting of financial information across the Group general ledger system. This role leads the monthly close process for Corporate and selected Business Units, supports financial forecasting and various finance initiatives, and collaborates closely with Business Unit teams to maintain strong accounting practices and internal controls.
This is a leadership position with direct management/supervision of 5 employees. Traveling, domestic and international, may be required.
Essential Skills and Functions
- Maintain and coordinate period-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial processing, reporting, monthly fluctuation analysis, and preparation of financial information for top management and the Parent Company.
- Evaluate operational and financial processes to identify inconsistencies in accounting practices, recommend improvements, and support the development and maintenance of sound accounting policies and internal control procedures.
- Oversee key accounting functions, including accounts payable (credit applications, supplier reconciliations, outstanding liabilities), fixed-asset accounting (capitalization of assets, reconciliation, maintenance of the asset sub ledger), and monthly balance-sheet accruals, reserves, and account reconciliations to ensure balance-sheet integrity.
- Coordinate audit activities, including half-year and year-end financial audits with external auditors and the Parent Company’s financial controls audit, and support the preparation of the thirteen-week cash-flow forecast and variance analysis for Finance leadership.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
- Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
- Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor

- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws including but not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, and develop employees with the skills, abilities, competencies and values needed to achieve the Company goals

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands to handle materials or equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee’s workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, areas of the work environment may not be climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 6 Years of financial accounting and general ledger experience in a manufacturing or construction environment with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls required.
- Experience with government-contractor accounting is preferred, as well as familiarity with one or more financial systems such as SAP, BAAN, Epicor, or Sage.
- Certifications and/or Licenses: Have or willing to attain CPA certification
