Title: Head of Growth (Director)

Location: NYC (USA)

(Open to a 3-month full-time contract with a path to permanent Head of Growth for the right candidate.)

About FinanceWithin

FinanceWithin helps build investor-grade businesses through full-service finance and accounting services. We work with startups and mid-market companies to help them grow and scale their business with confidence. We operate as a full-cycle partner (from startup to M&A).

We provide the intellectual rigor of a leading consulting firm and the transaction experience of a big accounting firm. Think of us as McKinsey meets Deloitte, but for emerging brands.

We operate as the “Office of the CFO” and our servicing approach includes:

  • Strategic CFO
  • Operational Finance and FP&A
  • Management Accounting and Bookkeeping
  • HR Business Partner

Additional services include: exit strategy for founders, M&A support, due diligence support, debt vs equity financing, insurance products review, governance and compliance, financial infrastructure and software implementation, people ops, and more.

We’ve built something powerful: the platform, the service lines, and the A team. What we need now is the growth leader who will help take us from strong early traction to a scaled, category-defining firm.

About The Role

FinanceWithin is hiring its first-ever Head of Growth (Director), a hybrid sales strategist, ecosystem builder, and advisor who will accelerate our expansion during a pivotal inflection point.

We have the platform, the service lines, and the A team. What we need now is the growth leader who will help take us from strong early traction to a scaled, category-defining firm.

You will be responsible for building and owning our growth engine:

  • Consultative sales for the firm (lead the full sales cycle, from intro to close)
  • Expanding and deepening our partner network (credit funds, PE/VC, banks, fintech, lawyers, private credit players)
  • Owning pitch materials and revenue operations (decks, one-pagers, CRM, and pipeline visibility)

You’ll work closely with the CEO, who sources many of our new opportunities, and you’ll run point on turning those opportunities into long-term client relationships. This is an individual contributor role with significant upside.

This is an individual contributor role with significant upside. The ideal candidate is an advisor at heart — someone who loves understanding a business deeply, translating needs into solutions, and getting deals done with precision and empathy.

What You Will Own (Top Priorities)

This role is fundamentally about driving new business and revenue. Sales and new business development are priority #1.

  1.  Inbound Sales Leadership: We receive a steady stream of warm intros from our partners: credit funds, banks, lawyers, fintech platforms, PE/VC firms, and more. You will:
  2. Own and manage the inbound sales funnel from first intro to signed contract
  3. Run discovery calls, understand founder and operator pain points, and diagnose what they truly need (and connect the dots with how FinanceWithin can help or how we can introduce them to our broader partner network).
  4. Review accounting data, financial models and reporting to design the right scope of work
  5. Work closely with the CEO and internal leads (CFO, accounting, HR services) to structure compelling proposals and decks (align the story arc of the client problem sets with FinanceWithin’s unique ability to solve them)
  6. Make sure our inbound experience feels premium, consultative, and founder-centric

For the first 3 months, inbound pipeline management (including older CRM leads) will be a major focus.

  1. Outbound Sales & New Business Generation: In parallel with inbound, you’ll build a proactive outbound motion to expand our reach:
  2. Identify ideal customer profiles and high-potential segments (especially in consumer & retail)
  3. Design targeted outbound campaigns and outreach strategies
  4. Build your own network of founders, CEOs, and investors and open doors to new opportunities
  5. Turn conversations into structured deals and long-term relationships

Your goal: build a repeatable, insight-driven outbound motion that complements our partner-driven inbound.

  1. Founder Dinners & Intimate Events: Founder dinners are a powerful part of our brand and relationship strategy.
  2. Host curated, intimate dinners of ~8–10 founders or CEOs
  3. Own the concept, guest curation, flow of the evening, and follow-up
  4. Use these settings to deepen relationships, share ideas, and surface opportunities
  5. Turn each dinner into a relationship and referral flywheel for the firm

These dinners become a signature FinanceWithin experience, and you’ll lead them.

  1. Conferences & Industry Presence: You’ll represent FinanceWithin at key conferences and trade shows (e.g., ShopTalk, Expo West, BeautyCon, and others where our clients and prospects gather).
  2. Plan your conference strategy and schedule in advance
  3. Drive high-quality meetings with founders, operators, partners, and investors
  4. Capture insights about market trends, founder challenges, and emerging categories
  5. Run structured follow-up to convert conversations into active opportunities

Conferences are for both brand-building and pipeline-building. You’ll help own this.

  1. Pitch Materials & Revenue Operations: You will shape how we tell our story and how our revenue engine runs:
  2. Oversee and continually refine our pitch deck, one-sheeters, and case studies
  3. Ensure our materials clearly articulate our value and differentiation
  4. Own revenue operations: CRM, pipeline hygiene, dashboards, and basic forecasting
  5. Work cross-functionally with the CFO services and accounting leads on proposals and scopes
  6. Build scalable workflows for lead tracking, follow-ups, and partner-originated deals

You’re closing deals but also building the system that consistently generates them.

Secondary Priority: Marketing & Thought Leadership

Sales and new business will always be your first priority. In addition, you’ll support:

  • Creation of white papers, insights, and category POVs that reinforce our expertise
  • Content and messaging that support sales, events, and partnerships
  • Thoughtful marketing initiatives that help strengthen our brand in the founder and investor communities

Marketing is additive to (not a replacement for) revenue growth.

Qualifications

  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Comfortable reviewing financials, evaluating business models, and advising on capital allocation
  • Able to interpret accounting data and, if needed, build or refine basic financial models
  • Multi-client experience is required: Background in management consulting, investment banking, private credit (or similar), where you actively pitched new business and owned deal flow from intro to close
  • Sector familiarity: Strong experience with the consumer & retail vertical is required
  • Proven commercial instincts: Track record of originating, shaping, or closing meaningful client engagements and deals
  • Relationship-driven and client-centric: You build trust quickly, ask sharp questions, and communicate clearly with founders and investors
  • Execution-focused: Proactive, organized, and comfortable owning a wide scope in a lean environment
  • Comfort with travel: Willing to travel for conferences, trade shows, founder dinners, and in-person meetings as needed
  • Located in NYC (or near NYC)

Aligned with Our Core Values

  • Own the outcome – We believe in extreme accountability to help our clients win.
  • Be bold and empathetic – We give real advice and care deeply about our clients’ success.
  • Low ego, high output – We care about performance and impact, not titles or ego.

Why This Role

  • Ground-floor opportunity to help build a high-growth consulting firm anchored on client services
  • Direct partnership with the CEO and senior leadership
  • High autonomy and ownership over revenue, partnerships, and market presence
  • The chance to shape not just growth, but how FinanceWithin shows up in the market
